 Kuala Muda District


Pintu Gerbang MPSPKSungai Petani is the administrative centre of Kuala Muda district, which is in close proximity to the border of Kedah and Penang. Apart from Sungai Petani, other major towns in the district include:

           The
Gunung Jerai is shared with the neighboring district of Yan while the Muda River is shares the bordering state of Penang. The iconic Jambatan Merdeka (Independent Bridge) connect both Tikam Batu with Bumbung Lima in Penang. Kuala Muda is the second largest and most populous district in Kedah, and it is also the earliest civilization site in the country.

         The administration of Sungai Petani Town Board was established in 1953. Sungai Petani Municipal Council (MPSPK) is now fully responsible on the development control, licensing, planning, infrastructures preparation and other related fields to ensure the development of the city and the harmonious life of Kuala Muda district in general.  When entering to Sungai Petani town from PLUS toll plaza at South Exit 168, you will be greeted by the MPSPK Gateway monument.
