NATIONAL IDENTITY Kedah State Flag  The traditional
background colour in RED indicates the prosperity of
its people
and its land while the YELLOW colour wreath of paddy
signifies the
state’s main produce. The GREEN crescent moon is the
symbol of Islam, the official religion of
Malaysia and the shield is the emblem of the Ruler who is
the protector
and guardian of his subjects. National Flower The
National Flower of
Malaysia is the Hibiscus, or locally
refered as "Bunga Raya". It was
chosen to be the national flower by our
Malaysia's
first Prime Minister , Tunku Abdul Rahman in 1960. There are many species of hibiscus in Malaysia but the five-petaled Hibiscus Rosa Sinensis was indentified as the most symbolically relevant above others. The five-petaled symbolise the Rukunegara (the Five Principles of Nationhood) while the RED colour represents Courage.
