Havard Golf & Country Club
The Harvard Golf & Country Club is one of Malaysia’s oldest golf clubs located at the foothills of Gunung Jerai in Kedah near the township of Gurun. Havard, the golf resort is about 17 km from Sungai Petani town and easily accessible via the North-South Expressway (E1) within 50-minute drive from Penang International Airport, Bayan Lepas. The course was established as a 9-hole affair since 1956 and transformed into an international-class championship layout , which comprises of three competitive nines: the 3,131 Jerai nine, the 3,087-metre Guthrie nine and the 3,193-metre Harvard nine. It may not be a golfer’s dream course, but the nine-hole golf course layout has enough hazards and challenges to give the social golfer an enjoyable round. The golf course is an average par-36 layout, almost flat, with reasonably wide fairways, two ponds and 17 bunkers are distributed over the course. Stopping by at the Harvard for a round is a pleasant experience, and caddies come cheap !. And for overnight stays, visitors may check out for the Harvard Suasana Hotel within the area. Available facilities are swimming pool, gymnasium, seminar facilities, archery, mini mart, Suasana Cafe, Pro shop and golf driving range. In addition to the facilities provided, visitors may also enjoy the outdoor activities and the obstacle course offered at the Harvard Adventure Camp.
